Hey nation
If you’re new to my blog, I’m writing a book and one of my main characters is a girl named Anika, and since I gave you a short description of my book last week, I thought I’d introduce you to some of my characters!
TW: Abuse and suicide (Anika did not have a fun childhood)
Anika is a seventeen year old girl who, in the beginning of the book, is human. When she was barely one, her mother passed away, leaving her with her father, but, the only problem with that is, he is not her actual dad. Anika doesn’t know anything of her real father since there is no records of him in her life and the only person who could tell her anything about him is dead.
Growing up, Anika was poor since her “father” was an alcoholic after her mother passed away. Often, she came home only to be used as her “father’s” punching bag. Her sister was the only family she ever really had, and since her “father” new that, whenever one of the children fucked up, he would hurt the other.
Years she spent helpless and vulnerable, and at age fourteen, her sister became sick of it and ended up killing herself. Anika was devastated, and to add salt to the wound, never got to see her sisters last words to her.
She spent two more years in that hell-hole until she ran away also at the age of fourteen.
She spent three years on the streets, fighting to provide for herself which didn’t work well. One day, she gave up trying to get anything the legal way and broke into a building to steal some money. While escaping, a man finds her (also homeless) and they get into a fight which ends in him falling out a window from the fifth floor and dying.
Anika did not sleep that night. She did not buy food with the money she stole. No, instead she grieved for the man who was only trying to survive as she was then moved on with her life. Only a couple months later, one of the another man found her and wanted her life in exchange for his fallen friends.
Then she got into another fight, this one for her life. This one also ended in a persons death which was not hers, but Anika did not have time to grieve, nor did she want to as she all but stumbled away with a stab wound in her side.
That was when a girl, around her age, finds Anika and promises to treat her wounds if she comes with her, so Anika does. After being taken to the house, she feels as if she has been cursed with some power that has lulled her to sleep.
When Anika wakes the next day, she finds her sister in front of her, and herself in a foreign kingdom.
That’s all for today Nation. If you enjoyed Anika’s story, come back next week to hear the one of my other main character, Andre.
